I’m Marie Poupinel a French (& British at heart) self-taught filmmaker with an international background in journalism and advertising. Constantly on the fly I like to think of myself as being a person that is all eyes and legs. I always knew I wanted to tell semi-autobiographical stories and that started with focusing on narratives about family, trauma, and communities I’ve grown around with - suburban neighbours, farmers, hunters,… The familiar makes me political as I witness societal and environmental changes overhauling these systems for the better or for the worse. To probe these questions of change, intimacy and identity my work plays on the visual languages of diverse photographic genres – including diaristic, documentary, and cinematic.
For any questions related to my work, queries, commissions & collaborations: do drop me a line! Or even if it’s just to say hi - that’s always sweet.
